Dear G6 – G11 students,
Establishing your own student club is a demonstration of
1. Leadership Development
2. Community Impact
3. Academic/ Extra Curricular Talents
These elements will then create your “social contribution”, which has been increasingly more and more important regardless of which schools you are applying too.
Social contribution can be seen as your ability to “bear on the world’s great challenge” (MIT school mission), and it can be assessed from running a student club, continuing to have community service, and other related activties.
In addition, your student club should have the consistency with the future possible majors that interest you so far. For instance, a film producing club will be super valuable for people that are considering multimedia/visual arts major. When we are writing our admission essays, portfolio, and personal statement, we have to narrate our own stories that help us find our ideal and most suitable school. In order to achieve the above goals, knowing what student club you would like to run and participate.
For next school year’s student clubs, we will start from scratch. Namely, consier IBSC has 0 student club now. If you would like to continue with the one in 112-2 (english debate, for instance), you still need to find one representative to fill out this survey. The ground rules of starting a new club are as follow:
